They kept the Dutch East Indies by sheer good will of other European Colonial Powers. Pretty embarrassing.

Good point which is essentially impossible for the Dutch. However had they not let in Chinese Immigrants or expel the ones living on the coast, the Chinese takeover would never have happened and would likely be a Burgher Colony/Republic to this day.
