Naw man I love my churchwarden 12inch. After carbonizing the Briarwood root it pulls so smooth and every hit is cool, not hot. The trick is cleaning the stem after every use then dry hitting it. The stem is so long it takes longer to carbonize and can just soak with tobacco resin.

You can you tell me why cigarettes smell so acrid and chemically when pipe smoke smells good. My grandpa smoked a pipe and his tobacco desk, a roll top desk full of his pipes, tobacco and smoking paraphernalia, smelled great. He never smoked around us but someone in my neighborhood smokes a pipe. I can often smell it when I'm out for a bike ride or walk with my family. It smells like the smoky version of the smells I remember from my grandpa's desk. It's clearly pipe smoke.

Anyway, would you happen do know why that is? It's smells nice. So much better than cigarette smoke.

Hey bud I can tell you. Often Tobacco for pipes are different blends of herbs and even fruits. I have a cherry Cavendish blend with vanilla bean and it smells and tastes amazing, home made too. Cigarette tobacco are often bred to and mixed with numerous chemicals to increase calmness, buzz, addictiveness, make it smoother on the lungs and make less prone to setting things on fire if not properly put out, also the paper is chemically bathed too for the same reasons. The tobacco is mass produced and caters more to the buzz rather than flavor as it is way less tobacco in one Cigarette compared to most bowls. Also the tobacco for pipes is usually fresher and wet, also "better" for you (realistically its just because most pipe tobaccos you do not inhale, but rather roll in your mouth like a cigar, which cuts down on lung cancer, however still prone to mouth, gumb and throat, but way less than cigarettes. Can be cubed by brushing and washing face after each smoke.)
The buzz from a pipe is way cleaner and enjoyable than a cig btw.
