In actual combat each K21 will be accompanied by several next gen drones each more than capable of taking down any other fighter jet even though its primary purpose is to serve as wingmen to the K21

No internal weapons bay is intentional to enhance the actual performance of the K21s in terms of speed and maneuverability, but they are already in advanced stages of the upgrade that will have internal weapons bay but it will be largely an outer orbit fighter craft

Nope japan partnered with the uk to develop their own fighter jet in a move by both nations to diversify away from the US military industrial complex but the budget for their project is laughable and seems to be more of a negotiating tactic to get the F35s at a better price or something than a real effort to develop an alternative, even if they did pull it off the leading jet fighters will probably be 1.0 to 2.5 generations ahead by the time any japan/uk aircraft is deployable
