'soft' isn't the same thing as effeminate, given the Greeks had a word for effeminate men - κίναιδος - or kinaidos, etymologically related to the term 'catamite', or "boy kept as a sexual partner"
'soft' could mean many things - in English it's used refer to a weak man or boy - but it doesn't mean effeminate
