This. I've got a very protective English Mastiff and if she ever got ahold of anything it's game over for it. Mastiffs were bred to bite and not let go no matter what until they're released. But biting is the absolute last step a well bred mastiff will take. No ripping and slashing like a pastoral type dog. A mastiff can break your arm easily biting it. I'd rather be attacked by a shit bull then one but Mastiffs will always give a warning first so it's not likely. I've never understood why people buy shepherd type pastoral breeds to guard, they guard out of fear essentially.
