It is mostly an artillery war at this point, to which Russia has a vast advantage. Their Artillery is cheap and we've only seen a few percent of it engage in Ukraine. No one is winning a land war with Russia. Even if the US fought them we would need to bomb their artillery because we don't have enough rocket artillery and normal artillery to counter them all. China, and North Korea also have strong artillery. It's a good strategy defensively. Get good SAM sites, get ok air support. Get tons of Artillery. The US can't do anything unless it wants to escalate to nukes. Same reason China couln't take Taiwan. Lots of artillery on the Island make it hard to land and fight.
Keep in mind D Day only happened because Germany moved away their big rail guns and more than 70% of the artillery. Imagine a fully competently armed Germany. They had land guns that could take out the ships. It would have never worked without the diversion. That is the tier effort fighting Russia actually takes. Ukraine is fucked. Sending advanced weapons there is just bleeding the US hard. This war has cost the US approximately 40x more than it has cost Russia, maybe more. And all it's done is blow up some 60's shit tier Russian equipment that only had another decade anyway. We counter some cheap piece of shit 60's tank with a Javalin missile that costs more than the old equipment was worth.
Russia has a competent modern army. Make no mistake. It hasn't used it and won't need to.
America knows this. Our support is just a way to commission weapon sales. Lobbyists give to campaigns and charity groups owned by politicians, those politicians support the war, and vote to pay for restocking our own supplies. Some companies and politicians get rich. Now is a good time to buy LMT and GD.
