Does anyone here remember the old internet? What was it like?

Imagine the monkey scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey but it's young white dudes and personal computers.

battlefield 1942

it had exactly all of the same problems that it does now except there wasn't trillions of jew dollars attached to it making everything about niggers and faggots amped up to the max

Imagine thinking "holy shit if it's this good now it's only going to get better!" and then being 100% wrong.

awesome. no women no fags and saying racial slurs where considere good behaviour.

You're forgetting at that time ONLY white people had computers. Letting nonwhites on the internet is a categorical mistake.

It was pretty good. I used to do the lan party cs strike sgit with my friends too. Ah, good memories.

same as now except the groomers and pedos hid in children chatrooms now they are out in the open and demand rights or to be respected LMAO lol even!

In CS people would have porn and gore sprays and chat was full of racial slurs.

community discussion was easier. then the jews controlled big tech and made it so Reddit and Twitter basically is all you have left

>Does anyone here remember the old internet? What was it like?
Very little censorship, less corporate. Slow as fuck though. It took time to download a pornographic picture, but on the bright side I guess it was harder to get addicted to it.
Anyone remember those old AOL chatrooms? Who here had a punter?

Anons born after 1981: please do not comment as your opinion will be worthless

nonwhite people had no interest in the internet until it was obvious that that's where the white girls were going

Well it's certainly a lot more brown and now that every SEA monkey or favela roach can get on the world wide web with a burner phone. Used to be a lot more structured and discussions were much more intellectually stimulating. People actually built shit. Forums were everywhere. Tons and tons and tons of generations worth of information got catalogued on forums of every kind for every topic you can imagine. Most of that information is either gone or impossible to find. Many a white man hobby forums have absolutely vanished. It's all social media and scammers now. There's nothing truly worth enjoying on the internet anymore.

god i miss the sprays
so damn funny

true freedom, segmentation, real organic discussion.
now 90% of all traffic belongs to the tech giants, social media and bots

Counterstrike was better before Valve forced everyone to use Steam.

Such a scummy fucking company.

The turning point was around 2007-8 when people started using phones and it became normalized. It wasn't heavily censored until 2015-2016, but censorship is much worse now than even then.

I was young and had full unrestricted access during these days. Played cs 1.6 and source, sprayed trixie teen and Any Forums memes everywhere. The internet was better because it was just accessible through home computers. now everyone is online and the quality is worse. simple as. I'd take getting called a faggot squeaker for using voice in 2004 than this bullshit today any day.

nah, lots of american spics, californian mystery meat and br all over the net, in online games, forums etc. playing on american servers is actually what introduced me to the idea of america being nonwhite in the early 2000s, lol

Imagine Any Forums where there were biological females posting tits.

Playing cs 1.6 online and miniclip flash games

your homeland seemed to catch up rather well, shit there's even muslims in the pet shop boys west end girls music video kek

Original tfc was a hoot. And totse. And stickdeath

it was more social and fun, not regulated at all

there was a generation raised on albinoblacksheep, camp chaos, fireball20xl, counter strike, unreal tournament. the based generation. holding down the neet fortress day by day.

It was fucking great. No niggers, no ads, no micro transactions, social media was barely used, everyone had a Website. IRC.
And most importantly, not a single tranny

I've seen worse shit sprayed onto walls in CS:GO and Garry's Mod than anything else I've ever seen on the internet.

TFC was hilarious, vastly superior game to tf2

I started using the internet in the mid 90s. It was kinda useless until 2000 or so. As in there just wasn't much content on it since no one had decent connections. It was more or less uncensored, if you downloaded movies on kazaa/morpheus or whatever you would just expect to have to delete a load of child porn that was seeded under a fake title. IRC was the place to go for any kind of real time interactions before things like MSN and ICQ became more popular. You could find groups for just about anything on IRC from games to music to movie downloads to christian groups and porn sharers.

Everyone had their own website back then, corporate sites were very rare, there was no internet banking or payment sites since no one trusted using their card online. So usually people would just ask for cheques.

Games were all offline with maybe some limited online capability that was usually buggy. HL multiplayer was popular as were the early quake games. Wasn't until Q3 and counterstrike that internet multiplayer gaming really took off. Before then gaming was offline, Half life, GTA, Doom 2, stuff like that. It was a pain to play multiplayer in the mid 90s, I can remember doing dial up modem C&C red alert matches and Doom 2 deathmatch and it was kinda shit.

1.6 is King

I remember the first time I plugged my xbox into a ether net cable and played my new halo2 online. Shit talking and having the best time. It was so fun. I loved listening to the banter and hearing the laughs. Now online games are fucking gay. I haven't played viddy in 10 years.

Zoomers will never experience the internet the way we had it, hahahahaha
it was a fucking world to discover with no rules, no censorship. You'd wake up in the morning excited to go online and do shit. modern Internet is a joke compared to the freedom we had back then.

I can't believe you just said it out loud. It dawned on me we need a RACIST INTERNET.

True

Totse was a forum similar to Any Forums, though it was way older (we're talking 1980s old). Most people think totse shut down because the owner got tired of running it, but I think the government did it. The owner had literally bought new servers two weeks before its shut down. No way he "had lost interest in it" after he had made such an investment. The owner's true identity was never known, meaning he could've been arrested/killed and we wouldn't ever know about it. Yet another censoring done by our totally trustworthy, totally not authoritarian government.

There was this guy who kept making threads about "Does anyone here remember the old internet?" next to an image of Counter-Strike

God she’s so perfect.

Quieter and more free. Online shenanigans were a lot more niche before it became a normalfag free-for-all and you could post and say anything you wanted. Search engines didn't exist and were not very advanced when they finally came along, so nothing was indexed and you had to know the url you wanted to go to or just explore to find hidden ones. When sites started being searchable, nothing was censored; if you looked up how to make explosives then that's what you got. There was no tracking, html was table hell instead of css. Social media came and ruined everything.

Even so, fun went on for a while. Site security was a toy to play with and skidding was rampant. If you wanted into someone's private gallery on MySpace or kikebook (site was new) all you had to do was fuck with the url. If you wanted the account then just email-swap. We'd trade warez and shit over IRC or hidden in jpgs, some of the more classic meme pics from Any Forums had a lot of fun stuff in them like LOIC and other tools. Low-tier malware was everywhere and very easy to spread to clueless tech-neophytes who had no business online and still don't.

The temple was great. Lots of fun times just sitting there swapping stories or reading about how some guy was growing drugs. It was still around when this site came along, they were always at war with SA and moot's little shitproject made for a shiny new target. It's how I found this place. Came to raid, stayed to shitpost.

steam killed meeting other pc gamers at circuit city and babbages on release day for physical copies :( i made a ton of nerd friends back in the day buying physical pc games and back when aol had local chat rooms and you could actually meet irl local people with same interests without flaking out or being catfished.
