Why don't Europeans use portable AC?

Because they don't have enough electricity to run those horribly inefficient machines.

Too busy faging up the timelines.

Those are heavy as fuck and hard to install

Apparently its like cold in Europe

most windows here don't slide open. I just bought a through wall unit. it's kino. fuck summer.

Too expensive, there is a reason we called them europoors

normally it is, this weather autism is killing the crops. Wheat is happy at 70F, corn is happy at 80F, some autistic cassava shit is happiest at 90F. Current weather fucks our ability to feed ourselves.

It's like $200

God I hate those things. Heat just comes back in off the hose. Window units always better. If course central air is the best.

Aren't they always bragging about their 200 gorrillion volt electricity?

NGL, moved back to EU from US. AC is The Thing I miss the most about US. Got to admit, you got it right, Ameribros. On the other hand, I dont miss the cockroaches the size of a fist.

I can only talk for Germany. But we actually do use a lot of AC now. Takes a while to equip every home with one though. Also most of our windows are opened horizontally so you can't just use one of these window units.

>Those are heavy as fuck and hard to install
Only for the weak.
You must buttsuffer, for you are weak.

>swamp cooler
Dont be a faggot, swamp coolers only work in extreme low humidity. Otherwise they are pointless

Our houses are well insulated and made out of bricks (those redish squarish things you see in movies)
There is honestly no need for it, opening a window or using a fan is more than enough to cool down your apartment and make it comfy

>Current weather fucks our ability to feed ourselves.
Is the current weather outside of the temperature ranges you just listed, or are farmers unable to coordinate with the solar cycles anymore, since the scientists have all retracted that shit in favor of "humans made weather unpredictable, so we don't release forecasts anymore"?

Attached: 1636576882687.gif (500x282, 2.78M)

i have one and they're loud as fuck. WAY better to get a wall AC installed nippon style

Comes closer to $2500 with VAT and license.

Got one of those. Window opens on a hinge not slides, so used an old cardboard box to improvise a window gasket for the hose

If you die cos it's hot you're a pussy.

Cuz central air is a thing

This only works in dry heat.
This works great in humid areas. But I prefer split units as they are silent and priced similarly

>Otherwise they are pointless
named after a hot, humid area
>swamp coolers only work in extreme low humidity
>Dont be a faggot
Don't name a product after the exact thing it doesn't do and can't work in. That is peak faggotry.

I better question is why are portable ACs so fucking expensive?

Its inefficient bro.
You shouldve got the two hose portable AC. Single hose portable AC is bad news

Window shakers are absolutely based. I have 3 installed in my house.

Certainly too heavy for eurocuck arms.

Same. Also replaced the hose with an insulated one like pic related, and added a second hose + air box to try and make it act like an actual dual hose unit.

Got some window tint film recently to try and cut down on heat entering in the first place. Just been too lazy to put it up yet.

Attached: insulated_ali_15.png (400x400, 81.74K)

Europeans don't use AC.
You get used to a hot weather... it's not a fucking rocket science. Absolute cringe americans kvetching about their ACs. I wonder if americans need their ACs so badly because without them they would suffocate in their fat disgusting bodies.

useless shit machines
based machines
good for fremen not good for swampmen

>burgers pretending to be rich when the majority of people in their country are debt ridden for life and one paycheck away from bankruptcy

As for OPs questions we do. They are like 200 bucks now because the demand has increased over the last few years

We don't have guillotine windows.

This. Air from the inside of the room is sucked in to the unit in two ways:
>1 - Through the evaporator and blown out as cold air in the room
>2 - Through the condenser where it cools down the refrigerant and is blown out the window as hot air.

Part 2 is the problem. As it blows air our of the room, the vacuum created within the room pulls in air from outside of the house, which is still hot. These little fuckers never actually get the room to a cool temperature because of this.

A better solution is picrel portable split-unit which has the condenser outside, pulling the air from outside into cool and never pushes the cool air within the room outside.

Attached: split-unit.jpg (421x386, 16.85K)

We've got very scant selection here. Places like Homebase only sell a few (single hose) units, and even those are very expensive now (an 8000 BTU portable AC would cost ~£250 10 years ago, now double that).

Found a dual hose unit on Amazon, but it's £1,600.

Most people have these here

Attached: 5ef4ad671c2414f53892803a_daikin-split-ac-500x500.jpg (500x500, 34.1K)

not that those are that inefficient but rather they only exhaust the condenser heat so that means the house is under vacuum and pulls in warm humid outside air constantly

Yes. Dual hose units largely solve that problem. For some reason Whynter portables aren't sold here, so I hopped across the border and picked up a Whynter dual hose from Home Depot in Washington State. While it's not rated for the size of my house, it certainly works to keep things comfy!

because it isnt worth it. summer is 33% of the year, the rest we need help warming up.

i bought two of those water coolers. not bad, have one pointed at my pc to cool it down. ac is pointless in the uk.

>because it isnt worth it. summer is 33% of the year, the rest we need help warming up.
Some dual hose portables have a heating mode which is more efficient than electrical resistive heating or burning natural gas.

This. Mono bloc AC is a scam

It’s just like nuclear power. They’d rather burn coal than do anything that made sense.

euro cuck electricity is expensive as fuck especially now

those are horrible. Most have 2 unit ACs here. They aren't good either but gets job done

I believe portables with heat pumps exist.

>Why don't Europeans use portable AC?
Because it's crap and make an awfull noise. i bought one almost a decade ago 65db , will vacuum so much air in your house that it was blewing up by my chimney in the house with atrocious burnt smell. Also efficiency is crap consume 2-3 time more than split result for little result.

look much better if the condensator pump is outdor. main problem with those unit it coast as much as a split unit... built by myself. (1500 yuros for thoses ... when a split is much less expensive, usualy they are doing ready to use lines / ac split in france if you won't buy a vacuum pump or feared of european laws that prohibit to do it yoursel ... but there is always a way ...

Also that we don't have thoses , which make it more difficult to to something, there is some curtain net kit which is shit typically.

Attached: Y5cj5bX4.jpg (512x512, 27.88K)

It's not necessary, climate is very mild here.

'Whynter portables'
Website says does not use refrigerant.. Adds humidity..? Humidity = moisture = heat
user said earlier x2 line with condenser outside would be best. Mini split way to go for euro bux

> Most people have these here
I have two, living room and bedroom.

Because faggot designers ruined the billion year old idea of having small rooms for better temperature control and replaced it with open space living, which only further hopelessly facilitates dependence on Russia. Sadly, you do this on a society level scale and retarded right-wingers will begin to see this as the norm, any attempt to rectify this will be derided as "Live in the pod, wagie." When the reality is that you are living in a sustainable manner and don't have to piss away half your wages on fucking hot and cold AC.

Sweden tried to save you all with their Scandinavian minimalism, made it cool to have minimal tat laying around, tried to make smaller spaces feel bigger. But you faggots keep on buying fucking vinyl Made in China anime characters and 'Live, Laugh, Love' signs to clutter up everything, while bashing anyone who doesn't fall for this faggotry, so now these Perestroika deception lefties have all the capital and have taken over the planet.

Single hose unit will work. I have central air, but use a portable unit in my room because I’m on the third floor, and I have a fairly large tv as well as various other electronics in here so it gets pretty hot. The single host unit gets my room legit cold. And it’s definitely better than nothing. It does my make room warm though if I don’t have it on, since you lose some of the insulating qualities of your window since it basically stays cracked open all the time.

they sell vertical window units, always have homedepot.ca/product/comfort-aire-vertical-window-ac-10000-btu-with-remote-115v/1000741165

These always seemed like the best option to me. Window units waste a window and look like shit. Central air is incredibly wasteful and inefficient, why cool parts of the house you barely even use? Central air also is a disaster for air quality, spreads dust everywhere. The ductless systems look great, allows you to spot cool, and are better for air quality. Plus no ductwork to suck up space, and are much easier to maintain. I found one was actually enough for my house, i just put it in the living room and it provided enough ambient cooling that even as far away as the bedroom I'm comfortable with just a small fan.

what the fuck is this

Last I checked, your rock is still full of shit boxes built in the dark ages, and you still can't manage the temperature in those. My A/C works fine, TYVM.

because it's the gayest most inefficient shit there? even your retarded window blocking window units are better

What about the noise? I cant imagine how loud it is.

because i'm not fat

you can take the window unit out of the window when its not needed after the hot months.

We have brick or concrete houses. Our windows cant slide into nothing.

oh, you're retarded.

Why? Is 0.54euro per kWh reason enough for you? God I have this country so much.

>save many euro bucks through back breaking labour
>want to buy AC split unit
>I need permission in writing from the landlord, from the municipality, and some kind of agency tasked with making sure townscape looks nice (yes, apparently such a thing exists here)
>write to all 3 of them
>otherwise i'm breaking 3 or 4 different laws and cvan be fined to hell and back + they will come and take the AC unit
>landlord says no, municipality doesn't even answer, that agency also says no because AC units don't fit into our nice townscape

Seriously, fuck living in Europe. Feels like a gulag.

why bother if I can simply install multi-split system by myself

Daily reminder north americans are once again superior to europooreans.
We have so much land, wealth, and everything compared to their rat-like situation.

why didn't you mount them on wall? You are wasting space of balcony

you need to open the window to vent the hot air with those. Either install a proper split unit or just open windows on two different sides of the house to create a strong current

I got 2 split unites in my apt.

I must've turned them one like 10 times tops over the past 3 years.

Global warming is an entirely fabricated concept.

I mean, sure, if you go out at 1 PM on the 15th of July it's gonna be hot, who woulda thought huh.

The design of the railing is also a waste of space. They worked together to make that balcony functionally useless.

Today is 40°C degrees outside, but the inside of my house stays at 27-28°C naturally, without AC.

I don't need an AC.

Australia has some of the worst houses on the planet, thankfully we have infinite energy. Our issue is that your green socialist world order demands us to stop using any of it. We now have to purposefully handicap ourselves, banning nuclear, banning coal, banning gas. We are hopelessly dependant on the other arm of the commies, the Chinese, for solar panels.

it doesn't matter
I don't use the balcony that much

why in the fuck would anyone build a house without central AC? i don't get it...
who gives a fuck about efficiency? your bill is never going to be more than a couple hundred dollars a month

Wait...... Europoors don't have AC?

I thought that you thought that you were better than us?

I actually lost some respect for euros when i found out they haven't even invented the AC yet...third world tier

HOA regulations

Won’t cause a vacuum, because a vacuum is negative pressure. These ac build pressure by blowing air inside while hot air from compressor goes outside. No fresh air intake..

This plus a decent generator saved my ass during hurricane outages. Totally worth it even if you have central AC.

I actually do use one of those in your picture, but different brand in my bed room in Norway.
It's awesome and makes it possible to sleep during summer.
Yes, it actually gets hot during summer in Norway, imagine that.

They have.
These are shitty and don't really work.
>Blowing out hot air so that only slightly cooler outside air is sucked in...
How do Americans believe that AC is unknown in Europe?

why should i use a portable AC if i have a wall mounted one?

Europe builds houses correct and isn't just nailing some plywood together and call it a manor. AC is the poor mans solution to this problem.

in Croatia? kek
ofcourse you don't when it's that way

They’re shit the unit generates heat itself and generally only cool for 15-30 mins at a time then shut down for similar, during which time you now have a giant heated up machine blowing warm air around so it’s basically a heater , In summer

They are actually just trash.
Air is a terrible thermal conductor, that's kinda its thing

Those ones that sit on the floor are terrible af if you live in an area with high humidity. You have to manually remove the condensation it collects. I had one and it would legit fill up with water and start leaking after running for like an hour. Terrible

We have proper ac at the office with the units outside and that works amazingly , so we do have it, but installing all that for what totals about 4 hot days a year isn’t worth it, just go outside and enjoy it in the day and have a window open at night

There's got to be some regulations. I've bought an apartment recently, and they allow everyone to install split ac systems, but not on the facade of the building, so just the floor of the balcony remains

It's 40 celsius in broad daylight with zero shadow and no ventilation, with the device taking temps data sitting in the sun for hours on end. Like it's always been in the middle of July in Southern Europe. My house sits comfortably at 24 this morning.

WTF ARE THOSE

Do southern Euros, Italy Spain and so on. At least commonly have air conditioning?
I assume those countries regularly get hot.

lol, cope. You wouldn't be saying all that if your house had central air.

This is correct. Big european villas and oldschool houses in the countryside were built with brick walls so thick you will hardly feel the outside temp, as long as there's decent ventilation.

>be in central europe
>about 3 months of semi hot weather
>out of 3 months only small fraction of days is above 30C during the day.
>well insulated brick house
>can open windows at night for it to cool down.
AC is completely useless here. At worst you get few warm nights each year.
I actually hate AC at our office, it's always misset. Turning it off is the only sane thing one can do.

They weigh like 40 lbs and you set them in a fucking window. Are you that much of a pussy?

Checked and based.
Fuck AC faggots.

why would I
there's like 2 very hot weeks in the year where I would use it

our windows open vertically

on a serious note, i had one of these and it was loud af

Fat guy in a suit on youtube told me the real deal is better

this confuses the american

This.
I have a split ac, but it's pure luxury.
I came back yesterday after being away for 2 weeks, and my brick house was at 23°C inside, while outside there was hot summer weather.

>i-i don't even like AC
holy shit, what a good eurogoy cope

i had one (similar than in your pic), its loud as fuck, borderline useless.
You need a normal AC, not these mobile wannabees.

I use this one. Good compromise between portable and fixed AC. It has intake and outtake, so works efiiciently. Only downturn: two holes in wall needed plus the noise is inside, though bearable.

Attached: olimpiasplendid-unico-pro-r32-10-2330_1.jpg (500x500, 43.05K)

Just shut the windows and turn on the ventilation. Basement air should be at 6C.
Free AC.

That's all I do. During the heat wave last year it was 45C outside and like 20ish inside. I don't have AC. All I do is shut the windows.

>yes i am a fat bitch who needs an electrical device to handle the weather and need to look for shelter or the hot wind might kill me

kek, these are the people crying for a race war

Attached: 1488264_1435341152295_full.png (600x857, 571.77K)

they're fucking shit. wont even cool a closet. total waste of money. to the point that I once installed a proper box a/c outside a window and put insulation around it diy.. when i left I just removed the brackets and took it with me. I used to keep the curtains closed the clueless landlord didn't even know i had it attached the outside of the building

You fags really don't know what your missing out on

Attached: recirculated-air.gif (480x368, 2.95M)

Are there ACs that dont look like shit when installed? I imagine new building designs take them into account. But what about mounting them in old house

Attached: 212316-5ddb-1600x0_klimatyzacja-magda2-budujemydompl.jpg (1600x1926, 388.4K)

I have to have noise to sleep, so the noise is actually a plus for me. The downside is, is that i have to wear ear buds or headphones to hear whatever it is im watching.

In sweden we do, would be crazy if the warmer cunts did not.

I have one
so far this year I it for 5 days total, can't really blame others for not seeing it a worthy investment

I have one. It produces as much heat as cold.
That plastic tube becomes a huge radiator.

Asian splits btfo of this scam.

>Seriously, fuck living in Europe. Feels like a gulag.

>be your own landlord
>DIY cheaper than installed by a pro but it took me 3 days with copper pipe work ( the worse parts about it ) and with some help to screw and lift both unit. vaccum the lines (200 yurobucks )and put nitrogen (100 bucks) in 2 time to push the moist here out of it , lets seat pressure nitrogen for one week to see if there is absolute no leak.
>Be pround of yours on work .
>Bought it in another european country , but they didn't give a fuck about european restriction,
>If the laws breaking in , but sir I installed it in 2012.

Attached: BXLQ4433.jpg (4032x3024, 2.9M)

Why did this "no Europe AC" thing become such a meme this year? Is it because of increasingly worse global warming?

>live in Tennessee
>dad is a rich jew doctor
>38C today
>Have most up-to-date powerful air conditioning imaginable
>blast it at full strength with all my other appliances and computers and TVs on 24/7 despite our Governor saying to restrict power use
>deliberately use more power to spite our commie
>use massive sprinkler network to water my lawn
>sleep with 2 comforter blankets because it's so chilly at night in my house

because we don't live in some retarded hot shithole like 'exas or 'zona like most of you spics do
we simply don't need them

those things dont work lmao

50% separated surface cladding and make sure you leave enough space.
t. architect

I have one with an intake and exhaust it works great, I tried using it without the intake once and it basically didn't work at all. I don't know how they get away with selling the ones without an intake tube negative pressure is real.

I have a portable AC from Hyundai that blows out my ears when on.
It's great, cools the room in a few minutes but I don't really need it all that often, maybe a month per year or so

>jew
>deliberately use more power
checks out

>50% separated surface cladding
in english, doc

lol, im living the exact same life, just in a different state with an uncucked government. I keep it so cool in my room that i have to wear a sweatshirt even when it’s 100f+ outside.

like a picket fence faggot but as much gap space as wood width. diagonal would look better. you can even get laser cut alloy prefab clad panels with faggoty prints on it

ikr
harden the fuck up cunts.
a/c is for 38C or hotter

So it's possible to have a AC on an inward niche shelf on the face of a building that would be covered by a grill flush with the facade?

you have to improvise an intake with cardboard, cheap flextubes and tape. as soon as you let the compressor take the air from outside, you stop drawing in hot air. you basically create a split system, only that the compressor hangs on a snorkel.

most people are MUCH too stupid to do that.

We go outside if the weather is nice

>So it's possible to have a AC on an inward niche shelf on the face of a building that would be covered by a grill flush with the facade?

Yes but it's not optimal for the air flow, some people here put it under concrete terrace porch , or under porch stairs for 60's 70's house style, so you barely see it. You also have to respect lenght pipe of the said unit same for the lenght of level or the condensator pump will not like it. it's not a cake job but doable by almost everyone ... they will just load you a shit tons of fees and doing the simpliest and fastest they can do so it's done in 5 hours. even if it look like shit. on your front wall house.
