it gets kinda addictive if you do it for a while, I was asked by my sister to take pics of food when I went on vacation which I normally wouldn't do but once you start you kind of just start taken tons of pics out of habit, then when the vacation was over I would just stop

Don't think it's just a zoomer thing. It's been a thing ever since cameras got small and pictures became pure uploadable data. I dunno, some people really want to remember that aesthetic plate of steak many years in the future or perhaps get upvotes on social media.
