BTW versailles was much more than just a humiliation. Millions of Germans died of hunger, cold. They redrew the borers such that Germans, in their on native land were in foreign countries, so that every neighbor would have a stake in the oppression of the Germans. In Czechoslovakia and Poland, Germans were murdered by the 100,000s.

Let's not forget the French invasion of western Germany in 1920. The French officers went to the majors of the cities and towns in Germany and demanded free sex for their soldiers, otherwise "young German women would pay the price". So the local German governments ended up helping the French rape some women in order to protect others. This went on for 10 years.

Wehrmacht and the SS were organized differently so they have to be treated separately. There was a lot of starvation on POW camps on the eastern front, but the Germans themselves were starving, so I think it can be excused. War is hell.
