On 16 July, Ukraine's language law came into force, depriving national minorities of their right to their mother tongue: now only Hungarian, Polish, Romanian and Russian can be spoken in churches and in private conversations by citizens of the country, who are now legally considered second-class citizens.
From 16 July, point 7, sub-point 1 of the Final and Transitional Provisions of the Language Law, which amends the Code of Administrative Offences of Ukraine, will enter into force.
