I work for a group of major airlines at a big international airport and I’ve been noticing a trend lately. Over the last two weeks on every single flight we have coming in from Europe we have been getting several calls for emergency medical service for passengers on arrival, bare in mind anyone arriving from outside the USA has to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the USA.
This isn’t an isolated issue from a passenger from any one country, this is affecting people arriving from several different countries. Most of the medical issues we are having to deal every day now with is strokes and heart attacks, the most common medical issue I have seen in the last 5 years is nausea and motion sickness, to have several people every single flight arriving all experiencing chest pains both young and old is incredibly disturbing and unheard of.
There is something going on and it’s not just localized, turn on a flight tracker to find aircraft squawking 7700, it is a code that aircraft send out to alert that they have an emergency on board, whether that be a mechanical or medical issue which 9/10 times are mechanical. Before covid it was a relatively rare occurrence maybe 5-10 times a day a day worldwide, over the last month it has increased to 50-75 a day worldwide, now seeing it in person every single day is pretty insane to me and all of my colleagues.
If it’s actually happening, we are definitely feeling it in the aviation industry.
