Last Name

I have an ancestor with the last name Mintzen from the 1600s, I do not carry that last name btw, was that specifically a Jewish name or can that also be a German name? This would be the only "Jewish" ancestor I have if true. I found this info from familysearch.org and havent done a DNA test.

most traditional german names are related to jobs, so your ancestor was probably either somebody making coins or dealing in coins. sounds like a jewish type of profession and it's also very typical for yiddish to turn umlaut-u into "i" but that being said there is a chance that it could just be a regional german dialect related verison of the word.
