To be fair Germany had developed combined arms and mobility to an unseen level along with extremely high level of strategic and tactical doctrine and NCO skill. Barbarossa is something that we will most likely never see again in terms of an invasion, it is unique in scale quality. Russians in Ukraine tried a fast covering of ground but it ended up in a disaster and an escape from Kiev. They're back to ww1 artillery war.

Putin could have just sailed around on his yachts and gotten rich, but he wanted it this way. He fucked around in other country's elections, he fucked around hacking other country's systems, he fucked around trying to bring back empire-building like a fashion designer trying to bring back acid wash. He made people want to kick his ass, then gave them a valid reason and method.
The West doesn't care about Ukraine and it's people. That entire country could be a smoking bombed out wasteland and we'd still fight him over it. If he withdraws soon while the Ukrainians still have something to lose, we might let him keep Crimea. Otherwise it's in our best interests to punish Russia as brutally as possible while China watches.

My point exactly. Both will go down due to attrition and having less economic power than the enemy bloc. The difference is that Russia never got the incredible victories like conquest of France, Benelux, Norway, Balkans, NAF.
