It's actually far worse than anyone realizes. Awhile back, I forget where, I saw a deep dive into the finances of gen x and millennial women. It's actually worse for the high earners. None of them have any retirement funds. Even those in the top 1% of earners have practically nothing and many won't qualify for medicare or social security. Basically they spend everything they make living the sex and the city life style.
So, we are going to have a large group of gen x single women hitting their later years with no retirement savings. Then a decade or two later the same will happen with millennial women.
Another thing that isn't talked about is the rise of alcoholism among that group. My brother is in med school for pathology and showed me a forum where doctors were comparing notes and they all talked about how common it now is to see women in their 30s and 40s with severe alcoholism and the resultant medical issues. One said that just a decade ago he would see maybe one woman a month in that demographic, now he is refering dozens a week for liver transplants. The reason is that they all started drinking hard liquor in sugary drinks in college and got addicted. That stuff fucks you up faster and harder than drowning a case a beer five times a week.
So, here in a decade we will have millions of childless women with no family, no retirement funds or the ability to support themselves, and with a massive medical cost. Shit could easily tip the system overboard.
All the while these same women are taking this pain out on men at random. The increase in narcissistic abuse is palpable over the last few years.
