Why is everything about HIGHSCHOOL in their audiovisual productions ? Is it because highschool is the only happy moment in their lives ? Or is it because japanese people are manchildren that dont want to grow up and breed ?
What is it with JAPAN's obession with HIGHSCHOOL

It's because highschool is the cultural experience pretty much everybody shares.
In the US we do not even share a highschool experience.
Last bit of freedom they'll have before going to college and being forced to work until they die.
Like the other user said it's because everyone knows high school.
But also high school and college are really the only places where a diverse range of people easily become friends, even when they weren't planning on it. Once you hit adulthood you need a really good reason to stick around other characters for it to be worth your time.
dis some bullshit, other countries are not remotely as obsessed with highschool as Japan is
dis more like it
This is because high school is experienced by 100% of Japanese people.
Furthermore, the undeveloped state of mind makes it easier to portray growth and failure.
They're obsessed with teenage girls.
I don't have to experience being a banker or an investor to enjoy The Big Short & Margin Call and God knows I love these movies, who cares if u experienced something or not ? You can portray growth and failure anywhere really, doesnt add up.
youthfullness in a time of innocence and infinite potential based around ignorance of the realities of this world. the structuralism and community attached to this are similar to what prisoners feel when going through reintegration despite having been forced into the prisoner role.
doesnt explain why Japan specifically is obsessed with it
I wanted to watch this anime film called "The girl who leapt through time" with my kid so I watched it before to filter it and the first scene the main character is in high school they talk about masturbation. What the fuck is wrong with those people how the fuck did Neftlix recommended me on a child movie catalog.
Truth
Chinese and Japanese are the most government - compliant people in the world. That’s why the WEF globohomo like them so much and want to apply their system here.
In Japan, close to 100% of the people are currently wearing masks outside just because they want to be good citizens. It’s not even mandatory anymore, but they will keep it on their own for decades to come. These people are so far from God. I wish them to seek the Lord though.
The west is as well, but we keep pushing the lie "X is the new Y" in age. Japan accepts youth ends and must come to a end, hope you didn't waste yours.
Risitas is not french.
Shared trauma is religion
awareness of it and the perversion and capitalizing of its youth and subsequently of its ignorance. nearly every other country has delusions of the future but japan has a very feet on the ground approach to things. they just know thats as good as its going to get for them in their indviual lives.
>Is it because high-school is the only happy moment in their lives?
The academic pressure during high school is immense but what comes after is even worse
As if Western cartoons haven't been largely the Breakfast Club.
Hell, here's a French example for you:
en.wikipedia.org
Follows the exact same format as a generic Japanese shounen.
And only a handful of jobs available for people who have wasted their youth, why do Koreans just take it?
You're a good dad
East asians have to live with 4 times for people than us for a given space. They value order much more in their culture.
Risitas is french meme patrimony
Unironically the most interesting answer I got
Western cartoons are based around orphans billionaires, orphan aliens, we also have fantasy stories that are popular. Things like Gravity Falls have 0 equivalent in Japan but you have 500 times the SAME highschool shonen story over and over and over again...
>(((Netflix)))
>Gravity Falls equivalent
You're going to hate that I make this comparison, but the Monogatari series.

Is that or be portrayed as an idiot and a failure by your own family
Eh, it's the getting into a university in Japan that's the hard part. Once you're there you're coasting for about 4 years, though the Japs are pretty big on what school one graduated from. Now, I am convinced that working as a salaryman in Japan is its own version of hell, literally and metaphorically.
Work life in Japan causes mass suicides, school was the last time they were happy
This aint no Gravity Falls sweety...
