Why did Americans treat Vietnam vets like scum but Iraq/Afghan vets as heroes?

I have a pretty good, comprehensive explanation.
When soldiers came home it was a often mobbed by a crowd of hippies who hate soldiers for going over to Vietnam. Honestly, it was an extreme minority of people, but hearing any booing from an audience at all once you came back from a war kinda kills your spirit. The hippies themselves hated them more as an internalized fear of getting ostracized for liking the military, less as an actual dislike.

The other reason, is that back in 'Nam, the style of fighting was kinda odd. People talk about "guerilla warfare" like it's a fix-all conflict winner, due to how hard it was to fight in Vietnam. But really, it's just trees. You could not see a god damn thing, you were covered in fire ants because you decided to sit down for a second about an hour ago, tiger just ran past you on its way to kill a monkey, and it's hot as hell. But, due to the extreme disparity between troops deployed and supplies given, you could have a lot of fun in the jungle. You could fire a rocket into the darkness just for fun. There was such a huge surplus of explosives that they started using C3 as fuel for cooking. And then vets came home, and to quote Rambo

And the whole situation really fucked with the mental state of 'Nam vets, leaving them as largely insane hobos just wandering the streets of whatever town you live in. And no-one likes an insane hobo.

Also, the media didn't like the Vietnam war. While they did like the gulf war. Basically all footage of the Vietnam war was burning villages and women holding dead babies. While gulf war footage was mostly night skies lit up by armaments.
