Every time I go anywhere I see Ukrainian flags and symbols everywhere. There is a decent number of Slavs in Chicagoland but I’m pretty sure they’re mostly Polish and Belarusian and Russian, not Ukrainian.
Why are people so obsessed with Ukraine? I don’t understand why you’d start flying the flag of a foreign nation that you have no ties to.

I've been traveling around the US for much of this year and I've noticed especially in rural areas it's old boomers flying Ukraine flags, having Ukraine flag stickers on their cars, Pro-Ukraine signs by their mailboxes, etc.
I think it's a way for them to live out their late teens to mid 40s again by hating on Russia by supporting Ukraine as a proxy. Of course there's also the typical virtual signalers and maybe some actual Ukrainian or other Eastern Euro immigrants that are also on the support Ukraine merch team.
