Floridian here. Tradies don’t “top out” anymore because most are in such high demand that private contracts rule the domain.

There are so few tradies that if you’re not 6 figures, you’re practically not trying.

For reference, one odd job I got was for double my full-time pay, once a week during an off day. Am I sacrificing time for money? Yes. One day a week for a whole lotta money.

But yeah, pretend we’re just poor peasants and call us when you can’t repair anything. It’s worked great for me so far

I went to a local electrical worker's brotherhood last year to get some training and learn a trade, fuckers told me they pay 11$ an hour, which will go to a whole 18$ after a 5 year apprenticeship. Fucking mega kikes.

The militant tradies that need to explain away that construction is definitely a desirable career choice and not just the only option for a high school drop out are the obnoxiously loud ones. Also the ones who make pics like OP.
Same for college grads, anyone with a degree in the liberal arts will have tradie #2 attitude. And most STEMs with an actual path in life will be tradie #1 attitudes, on average.

The part they aren't telling you about Joe is that he makes most of that money in OT, and he works 16 hour days and is either always on call or works weekend and pretends to love it. Never sees he kids or his wife, who now wants to divorce him because of it. A story as old as time.

In red states just about any trade will start someone at around $18-$20 nowadays with no experience. Blue states don't actually want you to work with them, the big construction projects are subbed out to red state company's. Union crippled company's don't win contracts unless it's a blue state that requires it's subs to be unionized.

SV software devs at mid-senior level make that much even at not-quite-FAGMAN companies. Everywhere else the going is nowhere near that good, even in NYC he'd be at 250k TC only (or so it was around 2015 anyway).

That's a lineman and they absolutely have student debt. Not all depending on how you get into the job but yeah you gotta go to school for that if you want a decent job. I know people who get trained at work but they are not in as demand as someone who already knows how to replace a transformer before landing work. Most lineman I know go to lineman school and I recommend anyone who was to work on poles do it. If you're a neet like I was you might be able to get a grant from a job center so you won't have to pay a cent. So yeah I guess there is no college debt.

In SV it doesn't matter, so long as you can spruce up your resume enough they'll accept even high-school dropouts that can make it through the gauntlet (problem is getting through the HR/automatic screens is not that easy without the degree, but it's doable).
Everywhere else you're not getting in without a degree, period. However, it doesn't have to be a CS degree, it can be just about anything else. If you have no other way to show you've done tech work (projects don't count, nobody looks at them ever), you need a bootcamp or similar.

Where do you get those shit numbers? The average salary for a software engineer is $110k per year in Silicon Valley.
