yes, from the outside things dont look that bad for australia. but when you take a closer look you see that our growth is unsustainable. the future here is extremely dependent on factors outside of our control like geopolitical issues in the indo-pacific. we became a wealthy nation thanks to exports mainly to china and we are so dependent on them now. the average australian might be wealthier than third world countries but they are also extremely overworked and extremely depressed. like every other country food, fuel and energy has skyrocketed. younger australians are depending on splitting inheritance because there is no way they can afford a home or compete with foreign and corporate buyers. local councils are acting like authoritarian governments raising rates and issuing fines over the dumbest shit to raise revenue. we even have head of local government areas making as much as the Prime Minister. compulsory acquisition of land is so common here they will literally forcefully evict you out of your home and give you barely the average market rate for your home. australia makes billions of dollars in revenue from speeding tickets alone. they squeeze every citizen dry as much as they can.

right now australian news is screaming about record unemployment being at a low of 3.5% but these numbers are a meme because it doesnt explain how many aussies are working multiple jobs or picking up extra gig work to make ends meet. our jewish central bank has raised rates way too late to curb inflation and now the mortgage bagholders in this country are paying hundreds of dollars more per month than they use to. keep in mind the national average mortgage is 800k. divorce is extremely high here and anyone living in the metropolitan area will tell you how short circuited aussies have become. a month ago i witnessed a car accident where somebody scratched another persons car and they are literally punching each other because they both dont wanna pay for it despite both having insurance. businesses are not willing to raise wages enough to make aussies do shit jobs like cleaning or retail/restaurant work so our pollies and lobbyists and businesses wanna increase the amount of student visas and 'skilled' migrants to over 200k per year. our globohomo government wants to force people to start installing solar panels and buy electric cars by making car insurance and car registration for combustion vehicles way more expensive through taxes. im so confused about this country's future

we were already a wealthy nation while the chinese were playing with pig iron and causing the largest famine in the nations history. Everything else is true

So, when and where did it go wrong? You are living on a giant mine chock full of valuable resources, so in theory you should be fine. Maybe the problem was that the spike in commodity prices due to demand in China put too much money into the country and inflated the price of property to insane levels.
