actually, all of the Mt Gox victims got paid. it was even better for them because, despite only recovering something like 50% of the bitcoin, it was worth well more than 5x as much as the previous ATH. so if you had 10 bitcoins on mt gox, worth $400-600 at the time it went under, the settlement gave you around 5 BTC, by then BTC was worth $6000 ea. You made out well.

Blockchain technology is the culmination of decades of computer science. The purpose for crypto was to prove out the veracity of the blockchain. A trustless decentralized ledger proving ownership.
Building centralized platforms that require trust on top of a decentralized system that doesn't require trust is the antithesis of the concept.
