western anatolia is connected to the rest of the mediterranean world so it's rich, developed, and cosmopolitan. eastern anatolia is more mountainous and undeveloped and thus backward. it's almost like the situation between the north and the south in italy, including how it produced a migratory outflow to the west

yea geography has a big influence on this one. Western turkey, and most of the cost has had a lot of european influence through the years.
