A lot of European architecture were created, in the past, to symbolize you were conquered. Churches were the big ones, that is why yours are so massive and rock hard. At least in the US ours are a shanty wood structure.

For me it is just a protein shake for today's lunch. Home office is really comfy but it's making me fat. I would never eat a bag of chips during work in the office due to social pressure. But here at home the kitchen is always just a few steps away.
Mostly heat pumps. One of my neighbors recently installed one. They make a lot of noise. And that's in summer. It's probably going to be even worse during winter.
Of course there is "Fernwärme" but after all the talk about centrally regulating the warm water temperature for Fernwärme users, that is an even worse idea.
