I used a cooling vest in Afghanistan as a tank gunner. But it ran glycol in tubes that connected to a system in the turret that looped back into a AC unit that chilled the loop. This is just a vest with pouches for a cooling pack. Guess not everyone gets to wear a tank into combat.

I'm guessing here but It's hard to cool a giant hunk of steel in the desert sun so you would need a very big AC. In a tank space is valuable so it's more efficient to cool a vest.

The AC was for the glycol system only. The tanks did not have general AC. None of the equipment is cooled by anything other than air and radiators. So someone bolted on a tiny AC unit and a water pump so that the crew stuck inside (gunner and driver) could avoid heat stroke.
