Uh yeah I don't think so chud. Carbondioxide is a harmful greenhouse gas. If carbondioxide emissions aren't completely eliminated earth will become one big desert. Just like Tatooine in Star Wars.

It takes some energy to filter out the stack emissions to make them clean. The cleaner you want to more energy or money it takes. Natural gas when it's cheap is easier to work with than coal. It's easier to transport, doesn't need as much filtering and can be used in a more reactive first stage gas turbine for load following.
You can load follow with coal but it's always a balancing act to keep the steam meeting demand. Add the complexity of needing ultra super critical steam running at crazy high pressure to get really good efficiency and it does become an ongoing pain.
