I know this is kind of an odd question but how did people act in public without smartphones. Now almost everyone has them and they are glued to them, everywhere I look.
I ride public transit almost everyday and almost everyone who's in the bus with me is on their phone or looking out the window listening to music.
How would this scenario play out if it was the 70s. What did people do in the bus without smartphones, did they make small talk with their neighbours or just stare at the ceiling for the whole ride. I never see people on the bus talking with each other, everyone is in their own little bubble.
What about when you are waiting in question for a doctor appointment and you are told to wait for an sit and hour. People now just poke at their phones until they get their names called, what did people do back then?
Even waiting in question for a cup of coffee, almost everyone in the line is on their phones until it's time for their order. I can't imagine a world that operated without smartphones, I was never alive back then and it feels all too surreal to me.
books, newspapers, magazines, walkman. Everything is pretty much the same except digital and faster.
Robert Jones
MSN was big back then
Levi Rogers
It was pretty easy. We lived more structured lives to stay busy and when we had free time we spent it with others.
Jordan Perez
“Walkman” nigga we said before the smartphone not before the World Wide Web
Adam Phillips
They used smoke signals and pony express.
Jayden Campbell
I just listened to music on my IPod and
Michael Bailey
Read newspapers and smoked cigarettes
Juan Johnson
we would stare into space and think instead of being amused by zoomers dancing in short form videos
Wyatt Morris
So they just took newspapers with them everywhere they go?

one night stands were awesome in the 00s. >meet slut and fuck at her place >get next morning regrets >tfw gave out fake mobile number >little chance in hell you will ever see her again >what's doxing? >overjoyed.jpg
steve jobs will be seen in history as an evil mastermind billonare like a bond villain criminal such is his genius mendacity jews have often published that they wish jobs was "one of them" (he was a muslim btw)
Dominic Cruz
People did not have ADHD from so|ymedia app overload back then, so they thought about important or current things, talked to strangers or read a magazine, book or newspaper.
Joshua Ramirez
They would talk to other White people. That's impossible now.
Owen Torres
i read a lot of books on the bus.
David Perez
>How did people live without smartphones ?back then? just fine thank you. smart phone are shit. I hate them. it was a WAY happier time.
Carson Ross
You went outside and hung out with your friends. You went to school. You went to bars and movies. You went to work. You called someone instead of texting them. Your face wasn’t buried in a screen every waking moment. There was no need to be constantly available or in touch with anyone. Leave your phone at home the next time you go out. It was just like that, except without the addiction related withdrawals.
Aaron Lewis
yes, and you still needed to earn your spot in the global media landscape. no trending dogshit and bloggers (internet influencers before web2.0) were mostly seen as the fucking amateur inane losers influencers are. no roasties, no faggots, trannys were considered mentally ill clowns, no chance of blm even though wigger culture existed. what a wonderful time to be alive
A bit unrelated, but before we had internet we'd just go outside and play in fields and forests and cricks or take our bikes and ride around. There was never any fear of pedos or shitskins or pitbulls. And we'd play with all the kids in the entire area when we came across them, even if we hated them. Summers were just seemingly endless days of going outside and having adventures and going home before the sun went down, without any worry.
Kids these days will never know. I almost wish I didn't know.
OP is regarding the 70s >How would this scenario play out if it was the 70s

Don't forget Zuckerberg

Without phones people would just talk to one another. Back then you were more likely to meet your gf on public transit or just on the street. People were way more desperate for human interaction because no social media.
Back then Every interaction with another human being had exponentially more impact.
Jace Barnes
They bought them at the corner from that little boy with the silly cap. He used to yell "EXTRA PAPER! EXTRA PAPER!" when a happening occurred.
But seriously, in the 90s and early 2000s I would just bring a book along or grab a newspaper someone left behind. I used to walk through train wagons until I found a newspaper.
"Walkmans" aka portable music players also existed and were used frequently.
This was in Eurolandia btw.
I'm sure in rural places small talk happens more often while in the city it's rare in public settings.
Not so sure about this. I don't recall strangers chatting up much more than they do now. People just stared out the window or read book/newspaper.

and vidya was so much better. stuff like sonic hedgehog on sega master system & nintendo games were really fucking great. even the first 2 playstations and xbox were good. now its all gone to shit. if you were born between 1970 and 1990 you lived in best life in the modern teenager era in history of the world. >tfw it will never be this good to live ever again yeah get fucked zooms
Liam Price
Remember Forest Porn? Forests were a treasure trove of porn magazines.
Nicholas Long
I like to think they had long attention spans, wouldn’t get easily distracted, amuse themselves with the little things although i do this as well similar to staring off into the distance, looking at nice flowers, enjoying a rain storm etc. also i’m sure they were masters of small talk and carrying on a conversation which i strive to be like someday.
Dylan Howard
facefuck was invented before smartphones. it was all desktop access. the thing was there was nowhere near addiction levels of web2.0. apple smartphones just accelerated the shittyness of social media. very few adults over the age of 40 touched computers in 2010. poorfags were also excluded somewhat
Juan Martin
Yeah. And my best friend and I would steal his Uncle's porn mags and hide them in various shacks and cars that we knew about in the woods. Haven't been back in like 20 years but I bet I could still find some of these.
Jason Parker
>poke
Brayden Walker
It was wonderful. You could go somewhere without anyone knowing where you went, your employer couldn't call you wherever they wanted, you could go eat with people without everyone staring at their lap, and normalfags & shitskins couldn't into internet and irc. At the absolute worst someone would have a walkman or something, but most people would even pay attention while driving.
Tyler Adams
they thought more, but they also watched more tv and were hypnotized by that shit
Evan Hughes
Ipods were popular till like 2011 thats a type of walkman too I remember my friend buying me a cheap chinese mp3 player back in 2004
Life without smartphones was boring as hell
Gabriel Allen
hang out in public spaces, talk to people when bored or peoplewatch
