It takes 5 fucking minutes to teach how & why plates need to be positioned correctly. Without proper positioning the plates are doing fuck all except weighing them down. that is a bit disconcerting to see over and over again. in their defense, they will be given 30 days of training and this was likely the first day, before any instruction, when they told them to hastily pile on everything for a few quick press photos.

im genuinely curious about the age thing. people are making fun of these guys for being 50-60 years old, but would they really be that much less effective than your average 20-30 year soldiers, assuming decent health? sure, their overall fitness and reflexes will be less, but on the other hand I would expect them to have better overall risk awareness and not be as prone to dying in a stupid way that younger soldiers might fall to. old guys can fucking fight, and the ukrops are lulling themselves into a false sense of security if they see this as purely good news.
