Israel can only ever be a Jewish country. If it were run by Muslims it would cease to be Israel. That said, the land has undeniably been developed to a far greater extent under Jews in the 20th century than it was by Muslims in the centuries prior, and the development of Israel has also far surpassed that of neighboring Muslim countries during the same time period.

If Israel never existed and the arabs progressed organically after WWII, we would have seen a powerful Arab league with lots of resources not distracted by war, a la Gamal Abdel Nasser's dream.
Religion would still exist, but in a secular fashion. Wahhabis would have never gotten into power, Islamic extremism would never have taken hold
But if Israel suddenly disappeared today and Muslims took over, it would be another Syria or Lebanon troubled by internal conflict and funded by the gulf, so not ideal either. It will take decades to make up for the lost time
