If civilization is to survive into the next century, individual rights is a concept that humanity needs to reject. With the stakes as high as they are, there's just no way around it.
There are unpleasant sacrifices that the public will need to make if they want to avoid a total collapse. The needs of the community must always be placed above the needs of the individual. Resources will need to be rationed in sustainable and environmentally neutral manner. And finally, population control, either passive or active, must be implemented.
You don't have to like it, but the way of life you grew up with will disappear and never return. If you truly value the survival of humanity, you will join the effort.
The "Great Rest" is in fact humanity's only hope of survival and you have no business digging your heels in to fight it. The last thing you should do is make yourself known as a threat to the community. A tragic but necessary evil will be to eliminate individuals who reject the new order.
