I don't know how anyone thinks stockpiling food is a good strategy for surviving a serious shortage or societal collapse. Even if you prep, normies won't, and they will kill you for your food if they're desperate enough. Hoarding food is a good way to paint a target on your back, and even if they don't find your stockpile, they'll still see you as tastier than the corpses on the street. If you have a gun, you'll run out of bullets, millions of desperate masses will flood out of every city into the countryside looking for ANYTHING to eat, and they will have nothing to loose, unlike you.

Best way is to hide your stock pile in 10 or more locations so You can eat while others wont. If a total colapse of food economy happens, nobody has fight left in them after week to ten days. If You dont believe me, try going a week with mild to moderate exercise. You wont be able to.
