these fairly intelligent brats i tutor used to often express an inability to stop thinking, especially after they binge watch netflix, tiktok, youtube, etc. really, phones and tablets in current year has kids in de-facto skinner boxes with alternating dopamine/cortisol drips as i'm not sure the formative human mind evolved to effectively process such information flows. the imagery from pic related and subsequent exercises are unnecessary for children but i found this general process works to help with that.

2) >fixate and focus on one specific thought >>dismiss all others as they pop up >>>don't "fight" when they do, rather, let it go
3) >zero thought >>not a thought of "nothing" >>>just emptiness
