What’s going to happen to the Southwest when Lake Mead dries up?

It’s not an “if”, it’s “when”. Lake Mead and The Colorado River as a whole are hundreds of feet below where they should be and have been for years now, and they’re the only supply of fresh drinking water and electric power for millions of people living in the surrounding area. So, do all those people die in the next 10 years? What happens to them?

Poison what drinking water is left to prevent libtards from leaving

The people of goodsprings are in dire straights

I GOT SPURS THAT JINGLE JANGLE JINGLE

Way too many people rely on that lake. It'll work itself out naturally.

Let's just keep importing more central Americans into the Southwest, what could possibly go wrong?

75% of the water goes to irrigation. Maybe growing crops in the desert isn't a good idea, grow a little less, export a little less

I love how normies are too stupid to see the correlation.

>commies drain aral sea
>commies drain lake mead
They never learn.

I hope we all learn to never allow mass migration like this again. Latino migrant trash and other MIGRANTS have piled into all our cities in the southwest. They driving down wages and increasing the cost of living, while lowing the standards of living for everyone already here. (Actual Americans).

Now we don't have enough water to sustain the current population here in the Southwest. This is fucking embarrassing. Mass migration from mexico, asia Latin America has made this region sustainable. Immigration is the problem, and everyone chasing dollar signs. MUH GDP! Fucking retarded goys.

As the water level drops the locals will be left with a choice. Either they shut off the Hoover Dam for an extended period of time to rebuild the reservoir, cutting electricity to major population areas or critical areas of agriculture which would have the downstream effect of destroying their local economy, food supply, and causing unrest, riots, or mass exodus from the area, or they simply let it run below the level of the intakes at which point they're not only out of power, but also out of water.

So what does the Hoover Dam power? Well, most people assume Las Vegas, and some of its power does go there, but Las Vegas is primarily powered by methane plants they've built. The majority of electricity produced at the Hoover Dam goes south and west to agricultural areas bordering the Colorado river in both Arizona and California. The impact is still large as it provides electricity for something like 1.5 million people.

The water from the Colorado is more critical than just electricity production, it fuels fertile farmland that would otherwise be barren desert wastes south of the dam all the way down into Mexico. Disruption to this supply would cause a major disruption to food production.

So why not cloud seed? Our government has long since admitted it participates in weather manipulation. We managed to keep the Mekong flooding year round during Vietnam. There are already services in the south west who perform cloud seeding contractually, the fact that the government has done nothing to alleviate the flood and in fact a couple of years back when the perpetual drought we hear about had been cancelled out by just one season's extremely bountiful rainfall, the local governments tripped over themselves to release the water from reservoirs and intentionally not capitalize on such a literal windfall. Now why exactly would those governments want to do that? Who would be interested in exacerbating a bad situation? What is to gain and for whom?

While the dam would make a valuable asset to Caesar's Legion we will not suffer from it's loss. California, on the other hand, will wither and die without it.

Why did these people choose to live somewhere unsustainable? When I think of hospitable environments, I don't think of the desert. I'd say move to the Midwest, but if you're dumb enough to live on Arrakis you're not wanted here.

I always shoot that nigger Joe Cobb as soon as I walk into the Prospector Saloon.

chekt correkt

There's a lake full of mead? And somehow Deadpool is involved?

All those blacks in Vegas will have to move to a even cheaper city.

why dont they just fill it back up with a hose

trumpcucks unironically want to siphon water from the white midwest to mutt california.

You mean they’ll all move and drain resources elsewhere?

Vegas has a treaty to tap into new Mexico's water supply, they are trying to fight it but at this point it's an option.
Casinos will absolutely pay for desalination plants if it comes to it. It's too much money to walk away from and the lake provides energy for a very wealthy portion of California.

>Casinos will absolutely pay for desalination plants if it comes to it.
Are they also going to pay for the new power plants to run them?

Just build a pipeline from the Great Lakes.

Maybe Las Vegas can return to what it was instead of having the overinflated housing market. Maybe everyone will have to move. Maybe the land will just become sparsely-populated and rural by necessity.

When they dry up, why not just have the government designate it as a landfill. Every hole needs to be filled with something. If there's no water, why not garbage or waste?

What if use heat of nuke powerplant to distill sea water

Hmm, how do utilities pay for their operations??? How does someone get utilities???

Do you really think Vegas would be willing to shut everything down over the cost of a water processing plant after they've just spent billions on new resorts, bringing multiple professional sports teams over here(mlb is next) etc..?
Nevada is in a great financial position. The cost of a water plant is nothing. We're fine.

fuck off fuck you

>mfw when they try to send people from California to other states as part of a "humanitarian crisis"
>"You have to help them, they're Americans just like you!"
>10 million Mexicans move in

They’ll get gibs to move so they won’t die.
