I am ready to leave this board (and all other red boards on this site) for good. It was fun in the moment, but in hindsight, the mindset this site espouses is nothing but detrimental to one's personal life.
Spending time behind a screen learning to "see the truth" will make you bitter and apathetic. Soon after discovering this site, one enters a cyclical state of self-demoralization and helplessness. Ruminating over your perceived misfortune does nothing to change it.
Getting off of the computer and gaining an appreciation for what has been built around you will show you that these "truths" you learned from Any Forums are not axiomatic -- they can be changed by effort exerted in a sphere of influence starting from your own mind, then extending to the people around you.
Every brick laid, road paved, piece of software perfected has been formed by the hands and minds of intelligent, inspired men who saw a way to mend the flaws they saw. Not by bickering council echoing their dismay at the sorry state of their circumstance.
Get down from this parapet for a bit, and take a walk outside. Carve out a meaningful way to contribute to the people close to you. If you don't have any, find them. The world is of friends waiting to be made.

Indeed. I'll stay on for a bit to monitor this thread, but I've come to an even keel where I'll avoid this site for at least a few weeks before taking another peek. With mental strength, one can overcome addictions cold-turkey. Just stop doing what you were doing -- one step, and you're done!
And they will keep doing it.

God can only lay out the path. It's up to you and me to walk it, friend. What a waste of the gift of life to sit behind a computer screen without applying the bountiful knowledge it unlocks.
It's about balance, user, You're telling people things they already know. So, I encourage you to get away. Find the joy that can only exist outside this board. Guilt is a good motivator. I tried white-knuckling my vice before, only to find myself helpless against it. I truly believe that finding balance means a lot of forgiveness, for yourself and for others.

Thanks to Any Forums, now I speak write, speak and read in English than most English speakers. Currently learning Spanish and Italian, at the same. Going to gym regularly and just go into the uni I wanted. Life it is what you make it, user.
This is true, but even just telling myself I won't visit this site anymore feels like a burden off of my shoulders. I've become addicted, and though I've known it for some time, I'm finally at the point where I can give it up. Looking forward to using my time productively.
Proud of you user, and don't sweat your minor typing mistake. Thanks to Any Forums, I'm able to understand that there is lots more happening behind the curtain than we're told. At the same time, you have to understand that being on Any Forums is no different than being addicted to the news cycle. Most of what's discussed here is wholly irrelevant to my daily life and personal achievement, and when you fill your mind with irrelevant things, you forget what's important.
