So apparently Canada has been acting like the USMCA deal was just a suggestion and we're having "conversations" about that. >The United States is pushing its North American economic partners to clamp down on imports of Chinese goods produced by Uyghur slave labour. >Canada has repeatedly been faulted for failing to do anything to stop imports of goods made with forced labour despite the commitment in the renegotiated NAFTA to do so. >Unlike the U.S., Canada has yet to stop a single such import since mid-2020, when Ottawa amended the Customs Tariff Act to prohibit forced-labour imports. >The Global Slavery Index, produced by an Australian philanthropic foundation, estimated in a 2018 report that more than $18.5-billion worth of goods imported into Canada are at risk of being made with forced labour at some point in their supply chains, including computers, smartphones, clothing, gold, seafood and sugarcane. >The U.S. trade representative said the pandemic and problems with supply chains from China in particular have led to a resurgence of business investment in North America. >“We are looking at supply chains in North America and how to make them more resilient and how to make them more inclusive of small and medium-sized businesses,” she said. “We are seeing essentially a revival of regionalization as a way to promote resilience in our supply chains.” >Ms. Tai said globalization has helped grow the “economic pie” through efficiencies, but it has become apparent that there are downsides, pointing to Russia’s dominance of the natural gas market in Europe, and supply problems with China. Seems like that sloooooooowly but surely north America is actually bringing back its industries. Hard to imagine it working out too well if they keep insisting on green energy though.
Yes! You have not done too badly then! I need to check and see if there is any new Elon-related seething Well I pretty much have to roll, I believe it is the law...
I went horse riding once (in my whole life) at a place where you could ride the horses in a trail in the forest. They had a dog and whenever they let him out he followed the horses and tried to boop people riding them. Seemed like the happiest dog in the world. He was skinny as fuck because he followed the horses all day. They had to keep him inside sometimes to stop him from walking himself to death apparently. Cool story huh?

in that paper i was reading? the "/ptg/ is a ripoff/homage of private tracker general." that was pure intellectual laziness, drawing a conclusion that simply sounded correct without actually trying to find a basis for it it is rather irrelevant to the paper's main content so it will probably never even get corrected, but it shows how surface-level they are at anything. academics, especially in bullshit fields like communications theory, come up with a conclusion before they even look at the subject material and simply seek and write towards that conclusion. if you are clever in your writing, cherry-picking, and references not even a good peer reviewer will catch your intellectual vapidity, let alone the standard lazy rubber stamper
given it's a field of subjectivity and heavy abstraction one can't even definitively "disprove" it like one could a bad mathematical proof or incorrect physical science theory. any critique is only valued in relation to the established theories to this point, which not only are appeals to status quo, but those established theories may have been founded on the same kinds of poverty of thought. it is why flourish in language and loads of fluff dominate that realm of academia. it is important to remember there is a legitimacy problem in academia even in harder sciences and fields. in the liberal arts it is entirely make-believe - they even pride themselves on it! it is why the next most amusing thing in their articles is their implicit insults and derogatory statements in referring to Any Forums: we are "bullshit artists" or "trump shit in overdrive" or "conspiracy theorists" or "pseudointellectual" or "discontents" or "reactionary nonsense" any number of condescension. at least "dark intellectuals" isn't so bad at the very least, we don't pretend to being elite or presume importance - we are nobodies, words on a screen, effecting against the odds. if us producing nonsense is bad, how much worse is that academic bullshit they vomit?
