Well, /ptg/, it's honestly been a fun ride. I've been enjoying this general since 2015, posting MAGA Momiji memes and voting for Donald Trump four times (primaries 2016, 2020; general 2016, 2020) and even buying The Apprentice DVDs.
But now, I'm just tired of it. I can't stand the ignominy that comes with supporting Donald Trump in 2022 anymore. Wearing a MAGA hat in public produces nothing but awkward stares, double takes, widening eyes, along with parents of small children trying to distract them so they won't see.
I finally had an epiphany: Maybe it's ME who's wrong? The election a few months ago in Virginia where Glenn Youngkin made it very clear he didn't want Donald Trump anywhere near his winning campaign was such a huge wake-up call.
After a long night of soul searching, I put my MAGA cap and other Trump 2016/2020 paraphernalia into the garbage can this morning, and then went to lincolnproject.us/ joined the Lincoln Project, and it's honestly been one of the most salubrious things I've ever done, like a 1-ton weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I still want to remain a Republican, but work towards a Trump-free GOP. It's a small step towards rectifying the damage I did to this proud party with my naïve support of Donald Trump. I encourage you all to at least consider doing the same.
