I stopped smoking last february, after failing 6 times before that. Its a nasty habit and you should quit awell, its only going to benefit you. You have nothing to lose but an addiction

those arent 'additives'. they dont add acetone and CO and those other things to cigarettes. those are naturally present in tiny amounts in anything you would burn--wood smoke, dead dog smoke, etc. your body has acetone and CO in it right now. theres nothing special about tobacco smoke. if you smoked cloves, or cabbage, or just breathed in smoke from a campfire, its just as bad for you. the tiny bits of ash and other organic combustion products are what give you cellular damage and cancer. the nicotine in tobacco is harmless per se; its just addictive. nicotine gum by itself if equivalent to caffeine--possibly beneficial to some people.
