Rifling gets the bullet spinning to make it more stable and accurate in flight(think of someone throwing a wobbler with an American football, versus a throw with a nice spiral). I don’t know what type of rounds this guy used, but I was thinking it was a shotgun, which has no use for rifling unless you’re firing slugs and you really, really want some accuracy. But most of the time people are firing either birdshot or buckshot out of shot guns, which has no need for rifling since shotguns are made to scatter shot out and cover a wider area of effect than a single projectile round can.
