Why did Russia fail to take Kiev...

Why did Russia fail to take Kiev? Was it because of pure incompetence from the Russian "army" or outstanding performance from the Ukrainian forces?

The true reason is rarely spoken about:
Railway sabotage in Belarus. They got stuck without supplies. 90% of Belarusian railway routes were interrupted multiple times.
It went so far they introduced the death penalty for it.

Russia never, at any point in the conflict, had any intent to take key ev. Why would they? Even imagining they would betrays a complete lack of understanding regarding the reasons for and ultimate goals of the military action.

Why do memeflags shill?

Javelin missiles got shoved up their asses and they retreated. Slava Ukraine!

>Russia meant to have their invasion quickly stall for months in Ukraine!
I hope you shills are being paid well

who did the sabotage? Belarus citizens against the war? Ukraine special ops crossing the borders to disable rail transport?

Lukashenko knows he'll have a coup if he gets involved. He probably did it himself.
>Why would Russia want to overturn the west-leaning government in Kiev?
So what you are saying is...it was a strategic feint?

A serious answer? I think the realization of powerlessness and inevitability is what drives us to nihilism and cynicism.

Every day I tell myself this is the life I chose or was assigned to before being born so I spend a lot of my time trying to find purpose in that.

Russian military logistics are heavily dependent on railways. Truck resupply is a key weakness: never enough and not maintained well.

Sure bud, they just tried to encircle Kiev and quit for laughs. Also the airborne failure to take the airport. Also the 40 mile convoy pile up headed toward Kiev

you are under a false assumption that Russia tried to captured Kiev

Their intent was to pressure the Ukrainian govt to resign or come to the negotiation table in the favor of Russian demands. It’s not meant to take over Kiev.

Putin has eradicated everyone who would say anything against him. So when it came to planning the invasion, everyone told him his plans were glorious and he would become the hero of the people after a swift and easy victory.

Noone dared to tell him he was being an idiot. So they went in underprepared and fucked up.

Putin's biggest mistake of the war was assuming a shock and awe moment of rolling tanks to the outskirts of Kiev would force Zelensky to the negotiation table. He must've really underestimated NATO's actual role in Ukraine.

Still waiting for Steiner and his troops

Kiev doesn't have a great deal of natural resources. They are more probably more interested in the Donbass.
Yes, people really need to look into Soviet deep battle concepts if they want to understand what is going on here.
They probably thought they could take Dnipro quicker than they did. They failed, so they adjusted to a broad front strategy.
Barely maintained at all, hence the snail pace of Russian mechanized infantry.
>So what you are saying is...it was a strategic feint?
Yes, but on a much larger scale than the war itself. Overthrowing the Ukrainian government would only escalate tensions with NATO and provoke fierce resistance from the Ukrainians themselves. Taking the country piece by piece allows Ukrainians to retreat and NATO to adjust and renegotiate. Doing it in response to votes of ethnic Russians living in Ukraine gives it a sense of legitimacy. They already did this in Crimea and now they will do it in the Donbass.

>BLYAAAT IT WAS A FEINT

Thats not what happened. He thought he had a window watching the US chaos in Afghanistan and the easy capture of Crimea Georgia etc.

Azov bros ended that delusion.
