Hypothetically, if guns were made illegal in every state via a federal firearm ban, would that stop or even lower gun violence?
The problem I'm having with the idea is, take black people. We all know black people have exponentially higher rates of gun violence and homicide than any other race in America. But at the same time, most of those black gun-toting gang bangers are also already felons and not legally allowed to own guns anyway.
I've also heard the argument that state and local gun bans aren't working because it's too easy to, for example, sneak a gun from Indiana to Chicago, where gun violence happens every day despite strict gun laws. But if guns were banned in every state, what's stopping guns from just coming in from Mexico or other international sources the way drugs do?
Is there any evidence that a federal firearm ban or "common sense" gun laws would actually prevent gun violence or be anything other than a feel-good law?
Fentanyl, cocain, meth, and heroine are federally banned yet easy to option. Most politicians ang judges use one them occasionally.

this theory will never work because criminals don't abide by the law. it can't get any more simple than this. there's no way to physically delete all guns, especially since the alphabet agencies plant them on the streets
I don't think full confiscation would help homicide rates. Gangs would either just continue to use illegal guns or have more knife fights. Criminals would feel emboldened to take more extreme action. The state would just move on to banning pointy objects.

Like I said, I don’t think a federal gun ban would substantially decrease our murder rate. Criminal niggers that use straw purchased guns could easily find another supplier (probably weapons traffickers from Mexico) for their firearms.
