Okay, I’ll bite. It was a grenade which had modifications done to it (an extra couple of layers of highly explosive material affixed to it). The actual explosion itself blasted away the bottom portion because it had landed on the ground (the top layer crumbled underneath itself afterwards)

I’m off this now. If you see me on the news this week it means everything was for nothing.
