Has anyone who is at least remotely conservative mastered dealing with journos?
I feel like the names that usually pop up (McCain, Trump) are simply not true. McCain knew how to play them until he needed them (2000 and 2008) and Trump seemed to have subscribe to "all press is good press" which didn't even work when he was just a businessman, let alone an actual politician.
I feel like "do not engage" is the default, but has anyone actually figured out when to engage with the press and not come out with egg on their face?
Yes. Don't talk to them. They hate you. Why would you give them a moment of your time?

Selectively and seldom
Easton Sullivan
Because you do, to some degree, have to get your name out there.
Nathan Cook
the real way to deal with journos is to fuck with them and insult them
you will earn the respect of everyone, even libtards hate journos
Josiah Nguyen
This makes sense. But how do you know when to take the call/email and when to ignore?
Nathaniel Morales
You need to be ready if you decide to allow an interview, that’s it really
Nathaniel King
I suppose that can work. Basically the Sam Hyde treatment?
Blake Howard
Ready in what way?
Levi Cruz
Make your own content. Why do you want people who want you to be tortured and murdered to be in charge of getting your name out there?
Juan Edwards
You can decide based on the nature of their publication and the biases they will have, and consider the circumstances and current events that they might be trying to discuss related to you. You should be ready to avoid allowing them to guide you down certain routes of discussion / attempts to pull information out of you or to frame information in your responses negatively

Shitlibs will never respect you. Don't even concern yourself with chasing after that. They're just evil demons. I'm not even a Christian, but it's far simpler to just assume that they're unreasoning demons because that's what they are.
Luke Harris
Being sure to hold control over the representation of yourself within the discussion
Nathan Foster
No matter what they ask you you should stick to responding with the ways in which she wanted to represent yourself. If you don’t like their question just answer their question with more information that will make you look good or supports your ideas, it doesn’t even have to be relevant and they’ll have to publish it it’s kind of funny desu

Ways in which you* not she
Kayden Johnson
I'm not putting them in charge. Moreso another avenue. It's like how you can't ignore having a social media presence either, even though big tech is pretty much poz'd too.
Good advice.
Christopher Hill
Also good advice.
Elijah Garcia
At least with social media, you can design your own message and present it mostly in the way you want it. With journalists, you can deliver a perfect speech and they'll clip it to make you look like you are an idiot.
Those are random losers on Twatter. If you seek out the OP, you can just read his tweets. You cannot do that with TV. You only get what they give you.
Michael Scott
>If you seek out the OP, you can just read his tweets. Normies don't do this. At best, a slightly skeptical person might look them up, see the tweet, and go "wow its real." A lot of normies believe "a GOP senator wants SCOTUS to bring back segregation."
>nobodies And a lot of nobodies vote in swing states.
Kevin Ortiz
> At best, a slightly skeptical person might look them up, see the tweet, and go "wow its real." 1000 times better than a fake news program. If you're dead set on trying to outsmart a team of skilled propagandists with editing software, nothing I can say will stop you until you get on TV yourself and wonder why you look like a moron.

Trump used to believe all press when he was a businessman, liked the notoriety and early on in 2015-2016 the press was more fair even with bad stories. After he won and the media establishment went into full relentless, negative spin no mercy mode on everything he did even if it was positive. This is why he doesn't do many interviews with mainstream outlets anymore because they'll be all negative questions, he deprived them of the most powerful tool against him, video clips and quotes of him flubbing to their questions. Without it all they can write is opinions, leaks (which can be dismissed) and quotes on his terms. When he does take questions like pic related and gets negative questions he isn't civil or remorseful, he challenges the question itself and shuts them down hard which portrays strength, resolve and correctness. This is the way to do it.
Sure, but he also had Bob fucking Woodward shadowing him and then got surprised Woodward wrote a hit piece. But I do think Trump refusing to apologize (except for the grab them comment) may have contributed to his success. Pic related.
