WHAT WENT WRONG?!

Not long ago Irish Protestants were launching violent anti-British rebellions and pioneering Irish Nationalism, now they would die just to be ruled by Anglos from London

WHAT CHANGED?!

Globohomo.

Small countries cannot resist the onslaught of the troon jews.

Who cares about protestantism today? Any protestand would give up their land for someone they deem darkskinned enough today.

They would burn down their church if it meant that an equally grand mosque could service an even bigger constituency where they live.

The identity of Northern Irish Protestants is based on the fact that they are born Protestant

>WHAT CHANGED?!

The British establishment worked to create a divide between the Presbyterians and Catholics and the Masonic Orange Lodge was founded for that purpose soon after 1798. Scots Protestants in Ulster even fought alongside Irish Catholics against Cromwell in the 11 years war in Ireland.

Were Anglicans behind the Orange Lodge?

>The identity of Northern Irish Protestants is based on the fact that they are born Protestant

That used to mean something. Now it is just a clump of words. They are complete ginger faggots.

I'll give you an actual answer because nobody else will. As said, the British government discovered the danger of Irish people uniting together against their rule. They saw the value in reinforcing the landed protestant elite-or, more importantly-bringing Irish Catholics onside with the union.

There remained to be a longstanding anti-sectarian republican tradition throughout the 1800s, but the rise of new enfranchised Catholics such as Daniel O'Connell helped push many (with the help of the Catholic Church) away from radical politics and toward constitutional/electoral politics. Most Irish people wound up aligned with the Irish Parliamentary Party in the late 1800s, who's main aspiration was just to get Ireland's parliament restored. It wasn't until the great Ulster Unionist chimpout in 1912 that radical politics started growing again.

>The Society of United Irishmen was formed by liberal Presbyterians and Anglicans in Belfast in 1791. It sought reform of the Irish Parliament, Catholic Emancipation and the repeal of the Penal Laws. By the time the Orange Order was formed, the United Irishmen had become a revolutionary group advocating an independent Irish republic that would "Unite Catholic, Protestant and Dissenter". United Irishmen activity was on the rise, and the government hoped to thwart it by backing the Orange Order from 1796 onward.

>Not long ago

Mostly dissenting Protestants ie presbyterians and so on, but not exclusively. However the Orange Order was actually disliked by the British Government for much of its history; they saw it as a destabilising force. That was until the late 1800s when suddenly Home Rule got so big, so they used the Orange Order to consolidate a Unionist vote. Fucked them over in the end.

Why didn't Anglicans give Presbyterians equal rights though? I've heard the Irish Parliament was Anglican-only, is that true?!

Dissenting protestants were a threat to the status quo and were also discriminated against in the 1600s by the era-typical religious dogma that dominated politics. They weren't seen as big as a threat as Catholics, but still a threat. yes-the Irish Parliament was almost exclusively Anglican for most of the 18th Century.

In the late 1700s Anglican and Presbyterians came together (along with many Catholics-who were rank and file because they were all in crushing poverty at the time) to form what's known as the Irish Patriot movement, which was basically an Irish equivalent of the American Revolutionary movement at the same time. George Washington himself expressed support for them. The difference is Britain gave the Irish Patriots their demands.

Will Prods embrace Irish Nationalism ever again?!

They already do in large numbers. It's more difficult in Northern Ireland because NI was created very specifically to maintain total supremacy of Ulster Unionism, but Unionists are retards. Pic related was the 2022 election. Sinn Féin, once the political wing of the IRA, are now the largest party. In broad terms:
>Green: Irish Nationalists
>Orange: Unionists
>Yellow: "Neutral"
More and more Protestants vote for Neutral, lending preference votes to nationalists.

What...

If you don't understand how any of these things contribute to the fact that Europeans don't do rebellions anymore, you can't be helped.
