US x Mexico unification I don't know how it would happen or how we would address the current issues in both countries but the recourses, skills, geography would ensure first world status for everyone for another century plus. Ive lived in Mexico 1.5 years.
It's astounding how many people:
- Don't read books
- Can't read spanish above a elementary school level
- Misspell their own basic words, like "boy" instead of "voy"
- Have zero interest in improving their situation. They'd rather sit at the bar and hang out every day than study and build their skills
- Their sub-100 IQs make it impossible for them to reason about the future, or consider wider economic trends or narrower occupational trends to figure out what skills to build for the modern economy
- Since they can't read and can't use the computer, they can't learn stuff online-- i.e. online courses, online news articles, online blogs, etc. The only thing they use online is Youtube
The good news is that there is at least a thin slice of Mexican society who is hungry for success and works hard. I met an electrical engineer in Monterrey who tests electrical components for the government & electricity industry. Was smart and industrious, and seemed normal like a typical college educated US engineer.
