Let me tell you about his accomplishments.
1. During his regime more than 1,500 factories have been built around the USSR. For example: The Sevan Hrazdan Cascade Hydroelectric Power Plant (Armenia), the Magnitorsk Iron and Steel Works (Russia), the Dniepr Hydroelectric Station (Ukraine), the Kharkiv Tractor Plant (Ukraine), Uralmash (Russia), ZiL (Russia), the Kurakhove Power Station (Russia), the Heydar Alieb Baku Oil Refinery (Azerbaijan), the Ufimsky Refinery Plant (Russia), the Malyshev Factory (Ukraine), the New Kramatorsk Machinebuilding Factory (Ukraine), GAZ (Russia), SeAZ (Russia) etc. I can't mention all of them 'cause there were too many of them.
2. In 1897 the literacy rate in the Russian Empire was only 28,4%. In 1926 after Stalin came to power, the literacy rate was 56,6%. In 1937 the literacy rate was 89,7% (86% for men and 65% for women). And during the early 1959, the literacy rate was almost 98,5%. This period is known as “Likbez” (the elimination of illiteracy)
3. In 1885 the GDP per capita in the Russian Empire was lower than 1000$. In 1921 it dropped to 500$, however, in 1925 it started to rise again; in 1933 it was 1,500$, in 1940 it reached 2,100$. In 1941 it dropped again because of WW2, however, in 1945 it started to experience growth again: In 1950 it was 3,100$. For only one soviet rubel you could've bought 2 packs of pelmeni, 100 glasses of carbonated water, 6 chebureki or 10 pirogi with meat, 15 glasses of kwas, 20 rides on a subway, 22 pounds of potatoes or 6 packs of baltic cigarettes.
