Westerners in 2022 (millennials mostly) don't think about the future at all. They live in the moment and only make plans 6 months in advance. That's why they get meme degrees and never really pursue any goals. The lucky ones stumble their way into good paying jobs and end up doing OK, but a lot of them are working as restaurant servers in their 30s.
So when you've never thought about what you're gonna do when you're 40, getting a tattoo seems like a cool idea with zero drawbacks.
