TEXAS ELECTRIC RATES SURGE 70%

Why is no one talking about how Texas' electric cost has gone up 70!?

They started shipping all the natural gas overseas so now the surplus is gone and the cost tripled until an LNG export facility just had to close for a few months

And then on top of that during last years winter storm Texas' dysfunctional energy markets let energy costs skyrocket over 9000% (estimate) and they are going to have to off those billions of extra dollars for for 3 days of electricity for years and years

I'm not trying to pull a gotcha on you user but serious question: Do you have white skin? Do you have swarthy complexion? I'm guessing because you are posting from texas you're at least some kind of spic. Probably chicanx.
These type of posts just kind of reek of "shitskin"

buzz off gringo

Ted Cruz and other Texas politicians are now bizzarely blaming the "green new deal" for their famously independent electric grids woes after spending years claiming shipping natural gas overseas was part of energy independence. Now that huge glut of natural gas is evaporating and you need to be willing to pay as much as people overseas are willing to pay...and they are desperate.

This shill it is spamming this pasta in every thread.

I guess the midterm season has officially arrived then if shareble back and running

Rest assured if California's electric cost had just gone up 70% in one year every thread would be about it, but bizzarely no one is talking about what's happening in Texas. If it stays this high energy super power Texas will have one of the highest electric rates in the nation

That’s because Texas invested heavily in wind and solar same as California. They have a shit ton of turbines there and large solar farms too. In the blizzard, the turbines froze, the solar panels were covered, and even gas lines broke because of extreme cold

But the feds and even the committee put together by the Texas legislature said they needed to weatherize their system or risk catosphorphic failure. They ignored both and people died and lost tons of money.

Should have stuck with coal down there in Texas instead of building so much unreliable wind power and turning to shitty natural gas

Totally. And that's why even a nuclear power plant shut down because it's water intake froze. Irregardless of that obscuration deflection attempt . As the other person said, Texas has very many problems but the overarching problem in both California and Texas is that they have these absurd deregulated energy markets that encourage irresponsible behavior so producers can jack up the enormously with unreliable power.

Also I'd say the biggie right now for them is the natural gas skyrocketing due to export.

This I did a report on this and Texas has known about needing to winterize for decades even prior to the recent winter storm.

This isnt a green vs fossil fuels debate. This is literally politicians being fuckwits and not listening to engineers when they tell them we need go improve our electrical grid for winter.

In al actuality the wind farms performed better than expected and produced more power than anyone thought they would. Faggots just like to blame green energy because they think its makes them tough and conservative. Being anti environment is the most anti christian thing you can do. God calls on us to protect our world.

If I got this right it's because the price texas pays for nat gas is Henry Hub. Each region of the US for power buys based off the suppy/demand. Since all the gas at the "Henry hub" is being bought to be shipped overseas it's causing a huge price spike. Places like the Midwest have their own supply and demand and don't have these problems. But since they can only pipe so much of their supply to Henry hub it's not going in quick enough as its going out.

Thanks Capitalism!

it's because china moved their crypto mining to texas

Governments are stupid like that aren’t they?

Boy, you do seem very CONCERNED dont you Russian shill. Sorry but the LNG is going to Europe and there’s way way more of it soon too.

Jesus shills all over this thread

Sorry didn’t mean to call you a shill, just the other blatant concern troll

It looks like other parts of the country were already paying a lot more for their natural gas and Texas had an extremely low cost for gas that's going up closer to what other people pay. I've searched around a fair bit and haven't really found anything explaining how the electric cost could possibly be going this high though. Maybe they don't use long term contracts and other places do for the gas. I know my electric bill hasnt gone up much

They're going to be moving them out real fast if they have to pay 20 cents a kilowatt hour, that's one of the highest prices in the country

they took all the low priced electricity on long term contracts

A lot of texans pay the spot rate.

>tfw my electricity comes from a based rural coop with wholesale rates and is based
After (((they))) tried pulling that bullshit charging insane amounts for gas my gas company told them to go fuck themselves and filed chapter 11.

Absolutely, Not. My. Problem.

Lmaooo I just saw that on Twitter. And it looks like they have the option to "sell it back" by not using it and cash in on the price spread so they're gonna make bank if that's accurate. What a scam
