Give them a test. I can tell if a prospective employee knows anything in either a few questions at interview and if they pass that, in a 20 minute test. There are standard questions to ask. No grades needed, no waste of money degree needed. And that’s for a specialist role, of which there are few. Most jobs take a week to learn and can be done by anyone competent.
