Serious problem here. We are completely dependent on the Chinese now because people failed to accept a basic principle of reality -- not everyone is "equal" at all things, and the sum of your parents breeding decisions throughout millennia may have some effect on the quadrillion synaptic bonds in the brain. Brain scans of white matter activity have pretty much objectively and 100% irrefutably stated this but the "trust the science" crowd will dismiss "scientific racism" without even looking at it.

This sounds like bullshit. China, India, etc are some of the biggest buyers of Canadian Deuterium reactors (CanDu Reactors). These are the safest and most efficient nuclear reactors.

If they are claiming China has designed a new reactor I think what they're really doing is taking CanDu reactors and rebranding them.

You can cherry pick these stories like the news cherry picks white on black crime - but the overall trend is that they are excelling in technology and strategic supply lines. Unfortunately our short-sighted "feels good man" system will collapse and technology is at the point where we may end up in a "feels bad man" forever system. Mass genocide and enslavement by the Chinese is a serious existential possibility if they advance beyond us and no one can police them on the world stage.

Chernobyl and 3 Mile Island prooved we can't really handle a nuclear accident. For Reference, Chernobyl had some 10's of tons of uranium in the meltdown reactor core, vs a single nuke that has less than 100kt of uranium. A Nuke can blanket large swaths of land with enough fallout radiation to kill vertibrate animals for upto a week after detonation. With Chernobyl the problem fundementally was the fuel will continue to get hotter and oxidize then flake off going downwind. For decades. Which means decades of downwind radiation for hundreds of miles off. That's your worst case scenario, and for the reactors to be feasible they need to be able to be inert wtihout machinery running.

The Anti-nuclear crusade was a FSB Operation, but it's a lot more likely the reason Chernobyl failed was because Russia knew it couldn't keep up with the west over the long run and ended up blowing one of it's reactors as a capstone.

We have much better reactor designs today that are a lot more stable, and IMO it's time again to start down that path of putting lots of money directly into nuclear power research, design and build-outs.
