I finally went because the theology just beats everyone else by miles but the actual experience seemed like the antithesis of that. Just constant signing of the cross, standing for an hour just to listen to two dudes applying a boring slight melody to words in a matter that makes it hard to focus on the content and combined with the constant ritual aspects makes it even harder to get anything but overwhelmed.
I get sticking to traditional worship, I get it's supposed to be an experience, but it just feels like a waste to me to have such great tradition and theology and then to just barely sing the days readings and wave incense and have communion and call that your service.
Like, I don't want my whole church experience to just be Sunday service and forget it, but I also don't want Sunday to feel like a waste of time.
