If I'm not mistaken EPA v WV has to do with the power of all federal agencies (EPA, ATF, FBI, etc). It limits them to only be enforcers of Congress's laws instead of being able to make and enforce their own regulations.

they also sided with Biden on the stay in Mexico ruling

Groundwork is laid for going after other agencies. This is still going to trigger Dems into overstepping and ending the filibuster. They’re going to pack the courts
Then things get spicy.

the underlying theme in all these SC decisions seems to be balance of power between states and federal government, and the SC seems to be on the side of stronger state governments and weaker feds. interesting in light of the macro situation.
Nathaniel Green
A short thread on WV v EPA.
1. The Court has taken a real step to check not only the EPA but all administrative agencies. The Clean Air Act technicalities are less important than the Court’s refusal to simply go along with an executive agency’s assumption of power. @ishapiro
2. We got many pages on “major questions doctrine,” big winner today. Gorsuch: “Under that doctrine’s terms, admin agencies must be able to point to ‘clear congressional authorization’ when they claim the power to make decisions of vast ‘economic and political significance.’”
Christopher Russell
Oh so now people are gonna pretend EPA is a good organization that does good work
Matthew Taylor
>in a stunning landmark case the supreme court has decided 6-3 that packing the court is unconstitutional

yeah, i'll believe it when i see it

The fact that the 3 “Justices” don’t actually go with the constitution is sad. There’s no reason the court should be split on issues like this. I’m not sure Leftists deserve to participate in our democracy
Charles Gonzalez
Ok so what this means is that three letter agencies have to
Cameron Jackson
Based and checked
Polar bears are doing better than ever btw

It sets a precedence that alphabet agencies (ATF, DEA, etc) can’t just make laws, they don’t have any inherent powers to do so, but have been allowed free reign the past 50 years to make up whatever they want and be the judge, jury and executioner. It’s basically an extremely bloated federal government that is getting their powers checked. A hypothetical example, ATF wants to seize guns from citizens of Texas due to some bullshit ATF regulation. Texas can say hey, you don’t have that power to do that, and they can file a lawsuit against the ATF citing the SCOTUS ruling against the EPA. It’s essentially a huge blow to big federal government, and the endless amount of agencies. If that’s the case, what is even the purpose of the 3 letter agencies anymore?
Lucas Hughes
Just like the FDA. These agencies are all packed with ex industry CEO's. They do nothing to protect citizens interests, quite the opposite they do everything they can to enrich the industries they came from.
Angel Bennett
Nope. Supreme Court cucked by not looking at it that way
